English वाक्यों में Pronouns का प्रयोग Noun के बदले में होता है और Demonstrative Pronoun in Hindi का प्रयोग Noun की स्थति यानि दुरी को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है. यह Noun को प्रदर्शित करता है कि कितना पास और कितना दूर स्थिर है.
Pronouns मुख्यतः Noun के Repetition को रोकने का कार्य करता है जिससे वाक्य सुंदर और अर्थवान होते है. इस Pronouns से यह ज्ञात होता है कि कोई व्यक्ति या वस्तु कितना दुरी पर स्थिर है.
Demonstrative Pronouns Singular और Plural दोनों हो सकता है. इसलिए, इसके Forms के अनुसार Verb Forms का प्रयोग वाक्य में होता है.
Demonstrative Pronoun Definition in Hindi
संकेतवाचक सर्वनाम परिभाषा: जिस सर्वनाम का प्रयोग किसी व्यक्ति, जानवर या वस्तु को प्रदर्शित करने या परिचय देने के लिए किया जाता है, उसे Demonstrative Pronoun कहा जाता है.
Definition: The pronoun which is used to demonstrate or introduce a person, an animal or a thing is called Demonstrative Pronoun.
सामान्यतः Demonstrative Pronouns को हिंदी “संकेतवाचक सर्वनाम” कहा जाता है, जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ संकेत करना है.
इस Pronoun का प्रयोग Noun के पहले न होकर Noun के लिए होता है जैसे; This is a gift for her. यह उसके लिए एक गिफ्ट है. यहाँ This, Gift के लिए प्रयोग हुआ है.

Demonstrative Pronouns का प्रयोग
This, that, these और those के प्रयोग में विद्यार्थी अक्शर Confuse होते है. क्योंकि ये Pronoun और Adjective दोनों का कार्य करते है. लेकिन दोनों में अंतर होता है. इसलिए, सर्वनाम के सम्बन्ध में कुछ रूल्स का अध्ययन करेंगे जिससे इसे सरलता से प्रयोग कर सकते है.
Rule 1. दो Singular Noun “and” से जुड़कर किसी Sentence और Clause में प्रयुक्त हो, तो Last Singular Noun के लिए This तथा First Singular Noun के लिए That का प्रयोग होता है. जैसे;
- Work and play are both necessary to health; This exercises the body, and that exercise the brain.
Rule 2. यदि एक समान वर्ग के दो Nouns की तुलना हो, तो Singular Noun के लिए that of तथा Plural Noun के लिए Those of का प्रयोग होता है.
दुसरें शब्दों में,
Singular Noun के Repetition को रोकने के लिए that of तथ Plural Noun के Repetition को रोकने के लिए Those of का प्रयोग होता है. जैसे;
- The climate of Bihar is better that that of Mumbai.
- The streets of Delhi are wider that those of Mumbai.
Rule 3. Such का प्रयोग Demonstrative Pronouns के रूप में Singular और Plural दोनों ही Sense में होता है. जैसे;
- He is the house owner and as such he has the right to maintain the house.
- Criminals are restricted such by law.
- Such is your mistake that nobody can forgive you.
Note:- Such का प्रयोग Noun के पहले होता है, तो वह Demonstrative Adjective होता है. जैसे;
- Nobody can forgive you for such a mistake.
Rule 4. Sort of / kind of के पहले this / that तथा Sorts of / kinds of के पहले these / those का प्रयोग होता है. जैसे;
- This kind of pen is costly.
- That sort of man is hateful.
- These kinds of books are authentic.
- और Those sorts of people are laborious.
